About this Book

This is the first book to study Salar al-Dawlah, the rebel prince, because so far only a few articles have been devoted to his life, most of which have focused on documents, periods, or specific events, and rarely go beyond the events of 1913. A few short articles provide an overview of his entire life, but they are incomplete and sometimes inaccurate. This book has attempted to present you with the most complete picture possible by studying all the research and documents, both published and unpublished.
Salar al-Dawlah became a serial rebel because of the social and political divisions that had divided Iranian society and the various political factions that had failed to unite them in Tehran. On the contrary, the reactionary forces were very strong and militant, consisting mainly of conservative ulema, large landowners and tribal chiefs - in short, the old powerful elites, who would only be defeated if the constitutional movement succeeded.
